Crafting Beer Alchemy

The Brief

Saint Germain is a start-up alcohol-free lager brand. Tapping into an emerging market of low and no-alcohol drinkers, spearheaded by Gen-Z, Saint Germain is positioning itself to shakeup the beer landscape with innovative brewing techniques to craft a magical lager flavour with no alcohol: real beer alchemy.

The Solution

The brand’s namesake, the Count Saint Germain was believed to be an immortal, time-travelling alchemist who had discovered the secret to eternal life. As ancient alchemy valued craft above all, it made sense to focus on the brand’s strapline of “Beer Alchemy”. We sourced original woodblock prints from alchemical textbooks from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. These were vectorised and used as textures within the branding, along with a hand-crafted script logotype. The packaging includes hand-made alchemical symbols and illustrations, alongside technical typefaces and beer information.
